Washington Youth Tour

The trip of a lifetime is 900 words away!

At MTE, we don’t just serve houses, we serve families. Each year, we sponsor a creative writing contest with an unforgettable, expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., as its prize, with nearly 2,000 other students from across the country.

Each year, we sponsor a creative writing contest with an unforgettable, expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., as its prize.

Who gets to participate? High School Juniors

When does it happen? June

When is the deadline for entries? February 14

How do I enter to win? To enter the contest, students are asked to write a short story describing how local electric co-ops are connecting their communities with energy, education, broadband, economic development and more. Stories should be submitted to MTE through participating schools.  Self-submissions can be sent to communityrelations@mte.com along with the required cover sheet.

Visit youthtour.tnelectric.org to learn more about electric co-ops. Resources there will provide you with additional information and materials to assist you in writing your creative short story.

If you're interested in participating in the Washington Youth Tour or want to learn how your local school can participate in the program, contact our community relations team.
