Power and support for your business
Whether you run a small shop or a large manufacturing plant, MTE is here to power your business. Large energy users work directly with an MTE Key Accounts Coordinator, and every other business can call member support for assistance at any time. Below, you'll find programs that can help lower your energy costs and standards for building new facilities. You can also learn about fiber internet from United Communications, a subsidiary of MTE.
If your business uses more than 300 kilowatts (kW) of power or has a transformer of 500 kilovolt-amperes (kVA) or greater, it’s considered a 'key account.' Key accounts work one-on-one with a trained Key Accounts Coordinator. Your coordinator is your go-to person for energy management, contracts, rates, billing, and outage information. They can also help when you change your load or plan maintenance.
Thinking about locating or expanding in Middle Tennessee? Through our partnership with TVA, coordinators help new and existing businesses find incentive programs tied to job creation and capital investment.
Key accounts also receive Primary Connections, a quarterly newsletter with news about products and services for large business members. If you can’t reach your coordinator, MTE Member Support is here 24 hours a day.

Business Energy Solutions
Running a small or medium business? Our Business Energy Solutions bring together programs from MTE and TVA that can help you use energy wisely. Depending on your business, you may be able to take part in:
- Smart Energy Starter Kits: MTE and TVA offer free kits to local small and medium businesses while supplies last.
- Smart Thermostat Rewards: This TVA EnergyRight program rewards you for using less energy during periods of high grid demand. It's open to small business members.
- ProSolar: Thinking about solar? Talk with an MTE Solar EnergyPro for free before you sign a contract. Commercial systems and systems larger than 50 kW have extra steps to connect to our system, and we'll walk you through them.
- Power REC: This TVA renewable energy product is open only to business members. You commit to buying renewable energy credits in bulk for one year, and a limited number are available each year.

Building in Middle Tennessee? Start with MTE. Letting us know about your plans early helps your project run more smoothly.
Our Construction Standards provide builders, contractors, and developers with a single place to find up-to-date guidance. Topics include approved meter bases, electric service guidelines, inspections, decorative street lighting, and trees in rights-of-way. You’ll also find a development checklist to help you plan. Standards are updated regularly, so check back often. Our engineering team can answer questions about your specific project.
We also offer incentives, such as MTE’s EV Ready program for builders who add 240-volt wiring to garages.
