Careers FAQs
Thinking about joining Team MTE? Here are answers to common questions about working at Middle Tennessee Electric, from the kinds of jobs we offer to what the hiring process looks like.
Team MTE has built a culture rooted in humble, hungry and people-smart individuals. In alignment with our forward-thinking mindset, our employees are encouraged to find innovative ways to provide affordable, reliable, and safe electricity while maintaining and improving our member support expectations. Our team works to serve our members and each other every day.
Not everyone at MTE works on the power lines. Our lineworkers, engineers, and operations teams build, maintain, and repair our electric system. We also have a large support staff in areas like finance, member support, information technology, and human resources. If climbing poles isn't your path, there may still be a great fit for you here.
Yes. From line crews to office teams, our employees have the technology, tools, and equipment they need to effectively and safely do their jobs. In-house fleet services and information technology teams help employees working in the office, remotely, or in the field.
Our members need power 24/7, so Team MTE is always ready to serve. Our employees work on a range of schedules to keep the system running. When the unexpected happens, like a power outage after hours, we step up to help our members. Though we prioritize providing the best service for our members, we also value personal time for vacations, family, and rest for our teammates.
Our Human Resources team offers a benefits package to help us attract and keep great teammates. Benefits include, but aren't limited to:
- Matching 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
- Paid time off for vacation and sick leave
- 11 paid holidays each year
- Employee pension program
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Mental health and well-being programs
- Employee discounts from companies like United Communications, Verizon, and Nissan
- Financial and retirement planning services
