Improving reliability with planned outages
Proactive maintenance for a stronger electric grid
At Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE), we work every day to keep your lights on and your life running smoothly. Planned outages are part of our proactive maintenance strategy, helping us strengthen our electric grid and reduce unexpected outages for our members. While we know outages can be inconvenient, these scheduled improvements are essential for reliable, safe electricity.
Why planned outages matter
Our electric grid contains hundreds of thousands of mechanical, electrical, and technological components. Daily use, weather events, and other factors can damage equipment, leading to outages. By scheduling maintenance across our 15,000+ miles of line and 54+ substations, we prevent many problems before they happen to keep your power as reliable as possible.
How we notify members
We want you to be prepared for any planned outage in your area. MTE sends out an automated call to all affected members prior to the outage.
For smaller, localized outages, our crews may also knock on doors to alert members of the upcoming outage or set up signs at neighborhood entrances.
To ensure you receive timely notifications, keep your contact information up to date to help us serve you better. You can update your contact information by:
- Reviewing your account information in myMTE
- Calling member support
- Stopping by one of our local offices
