Middle Tennessee Electric offers members several convenient ways to pay their bills, including Auto Pay, the myMTE app, phone, mail, local offices, and third-party services like MoneyGram. This page answers common questions about each payment method and provides resources for members.
Auto Pay
Auto Pay is MTE’s recurring payment system available through the myMTE mobile app, web portal, or member support team. You can add a bank account or a credit/debit card to your account to automatically pay your bill each month.
myMTE app & web portal
Help is right at your fingertips with the myMTE mobile app and web portal. You can manage your account, pay your bill, and track your energy habits in an easy-to-read format. Over 230,000+ MTE members use the myMTE app. Download the app or sign up on the web portal to get started.

MTE Member Support can help with any account concerns weekdays from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. After-hours support is available for payment and outage questions on nights, weekends, and holidays. Call toll-free 1-877-777-9020 to speak to a person 24/7.
You can mail a check to your local office using the tear-away stub at the bottom of your bill. Mail it to any local office by the due date. To reduce postage costs and avoid late payments, consider using Auto Pay.
Local offices
Members are welcome to pay bills in person at any office. For after-hours payments, each office has a night drop box near the drive-thru window, and drop boxes are also available at:
- Fairview: City Hall
- Lebanon: City Hall
Third-party payment options
MoneyGram
MoneyGram lets you pay your bill in cash or check when offices are closed. Available at retail locations like CVS, Walmart, and Kroger. Fill out a form and submit it with your payment to the cashier; your payment will apply to your MTE account almost instantly.
What is MoneyGram and how do I use it?
MoneyGram is a money transfer/bill payment service available at multiple retail locations. Fill out a form and submit it with your cash payment to the cashier.
Where can I find MoneyGram locations?
CVS, Walmart, Kroger, and other retailers in MTE’s service territory. Call ahead or check MoneyGram’s website for current locations.
Why is MoneyGram available?
It provides a 24-hour payment service for members who need to pay overnight or on weekends.
Pay By Cash with InComm Vanilla Direct
Pay By Cash by InComm Vanilla Direct is an option members can use through myMTE that lets them make a payment using participating businesses like Dollar General, Circle K, and 7-Eleven. This option allows you to pay your bill in cash when our offices are closed or as you’re running errands. There is a $1.50 charge to use this service, with a $500 maximum limit.
To use Pay By Cash:
- Login to your myMTE account.
- Select Bill & Pay.
- Select Pay By Cash.
- Find a participating location and scan the barcode generated in myMTE at the cash register.
