Dedicated support for MTE's largest business members
Some businesses use enough energy that having a dedicated MTE team member who understands their operation makes an impactful difference. If your business uses more than 300 kW or has a transformer of 500 KVA or greater, you qualify as a ‘key account’ and work with the MTE Key Account Coordinator assigned to you.
Your coordinator takes the time to learn how your facility runs. They help you manage your energy use day to day, and they step in when you need an expert to help plan your load or maintenance needs.
Key account coordinators also connect you with resources that help your facility operate more efficiently. These include efficiency and incentive programs offered through MTE’s partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
If your business falls below that threshold, you're served as a general business member through MTE Member Support — which is available at any time for help with your account.
Key Accounts
MTE recognizes key accounts as businesses that use more than 300 kW or those with a transformer size of 500 KVA or greater. Businesses below that threshold are served as general business members through member support.
Demand is the amount of energy your business uses at any given moment, measured in kilowatts. It's part of the commercial and industrial rate structure. Depending on your rate class, your business may or may not have a demand charge. Your coordinator or member support can walk you through how demand appears on your bill.
Working with TVA, MTE offers financially incentivized demand response programs for commercial and industrial members who agree to reduce electricity use during peak periods. TVA designed these programs in part to lessen the need for additional generation. Your coordinator can explain how participation would work for your facility.
