Gordon Bone Memorial SharingChange scholarship applications
The Gordon Bone Memorial SharingChange Scholarship program helps students in the cooperative’s service area continue their education. MTE’s SharingChange program funds ten $2,000 scholarships. This page explains who can apply, how applications are judged, what the essay should include, and when applications are due.
Who can apply
Interested persons must be an MTE member or a dependent of an MTE member. Scholarship funds must be used to attend a Tennessee-accredited 2-year or 4-year college or trade school. Applicants must be an entering freshman or a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
Essay requirements
Applicants must complete an essay of 200 to 300 words explaining how the scholarship funds will benefit their personal goals.
Essays are judged by a group of volunteer teachers from the MTE service area.
How applications are judged
Applicants are judged on a points system. The review includes:
- Financial need
- Current grade-point average
- Involvement in community service
- Leadership roles
- Essay score
The applicants with the top point totals will be selected as winners.
Application and notification timeline
The deadline to submit scholarship applications and essays is March 15.
Scholarship winners will be notified in late July.
