Community engagement
Rooted in the communities we serve
Our employees live in the same communities as our members, so being a good neighbor is important to us. We teach electrical safety, visit classrooms, and fund local nonprofits through SharingChange. You’ll also find us at fairs and community events across Middle Tennessee. Explore the programs below to see how we can help and how you can take part.
As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, we’re owned by the members we serve, and your voice helps guide what we do. We encourage members to complete surveys, talk to our member support team, and provide reviews as options for providing feedback at any time.
We also hear member feedback on specific issues through the Co-op Community Forum — an online member advisory board made up of randomly selected members. It opens for one week each quarter, and our leadership uses what members share to help shape co-op decisions.
Member ideas can turn into real programs. In fact, the Electric Griddle started as a suggestion in the forum.

- The Electric Griddle: Our mobile food trailer serves free grilled cheese sandwiches at community events. It’s run by employee volunteers, and many of them live in the community they’re serving.
- The EnergyHub: Step inside our demo trailer to see smart home devices and pick up energy-saving tips from an MTE EnergyPro.
- Hotline Safety Demonstration: Watch a live electrical safety presentation at select events, such as the Wilson and Williamson County Fairs. The demonstration is also used to educate first responders and construction workers about the dangers of working around our grid.

At select MTE events, you can get insights from our arborists about the best trees and bushes for your property. Before you plant, look up and around. Choose a spot where your tree can grow tall without reaching power lines. The right tree in the right place can grow well for years and help keep the lines clear.
