Environmentally Responsible Programs
MTE’s commitment to our community environment is one way we’re making your life better. Energy technology has evolved to allow more eco-friendly and renewable options for our members to use in their daily lives. Our distributed energy resources team works with members to provide programs and education to help our members navigate through those options. We continue to make strides in offering renewable energy sources to our members with ongoing commitments and future plans. At MTE, we’re working to be responsible stewards of the environment for future generations while providing reliable energy today. That’s also why we’ve partnered with TVA to bring programs that allow our members to use electricity generated by cleaner, renewable resources such as solar, hydro, wind, and methane gas.
Our team brings years of experience and expertise to help our members as they look for answers about renewable energy technology. Our programs are designed to simplify the process and provide you the knowledge need to make the best decision for your life. Reach out to our DER coordinator to get professional advice or get started with one of our renewable programs.
MTE is committed to making life better for our members. Integrating renewable energy, innovative infrastructure, and smart grid technology is helping MTE improve service and become a leader among electrical cooperatives.

TVA Green Programs
Find a greener solution for your needs.
MTE has partnered with TVA to provide additional renewable energy programs for our members. Our DER coordinator can help you determine which one is right for you based on your needs. If you’ve got questions, we can help.
Green Flex is exclusive to business members and is a great way to meet your carbon reduction goals. This program is a one-year commitment for businesses to purchase bulk amounts of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to meet sustainability goals quickly.
How does it work?
Green Flex uses 100% wind renewable energy credits delivered to TVA without signup or infrastructure costs. There are limited RECs available each year, so businesses interested in participating in this program should contact our distributed energy resources coordinator to sign up or get added to the waitlist.
Who should consider participating?
Businesses looking to reach their carbon reduction goals without committing to a long-term contract can benefit from this program by purchasing RECs to offset their carbon emissions. By committing to purchase bulk amounts of these RECs, businesses can quickly reach their goals without the cost of building additional distributed energy resource infrastructure or incurring additional fees associated with reducing their carbon energy footprint.
Helping high-demand members go green
TVA and MTE are working together to offer new, renewable options for businesses with aggressive sustainability targets. TVA uses economies of scale and a competitive bidding process to secure the lowest possible cost by offering 20-year contracts. This is a great option for commercial and industrial members who plan to be in the Valley for decades to come.
This program is a joint effort with TVA to offer members green energy for just $2 per month. Members in this program pay a set amount each month to receive 200-kWh of renewable energy. Unlike Cooperative Solar or Green Switch 100, members in this program receive a set amount of energy for a predetermined cost.
Want to buy your own solar installation but don't know where to turn?
As with any rapidly growing and evolving industry, there is a lot of information about solar and batteries — but not all companies creating this information have your best interest in mind. Our NABCEP certified solar experts have compiled a list of common solar installation problems and the sales tactics companies use to sell you on a system that isn't right for you.
Talk to an expert in solar. Find the right thing for you.
We’ve got solar expertise on staff. Before joining MTE, Tim Suddoth spent over 6 years in the Solar Industry learning the ins and outs of sales, design estimating, permitting, commissioning, and installing solar systems. He holds certifications from NABCEP — the North America Board of Certified Energy Practitioners — the gold standard for solar. If you have any questions, Tim is available to talk to at no charge.
