The Levelized Billing Plan is calculated based on your average monthly electricity billing, which allows you to have a more consistently priced bill each month, even during high-energy-consumption seasons.
For Existing Members, the Levelized Billing amount due monthly is calculated based on a “rolling average” of your account’s previous 12 months’ electricity billing. A "rolling average" is calculated each month by adding the current month's billing to the previous eleven months' billing and dividing the total by 12. This average is used in determining your Levelized Billing amount due.
For members signing up for new services which do not have a 12-month usage history, it will take 7 to 8 months for the Levelized Amount to normalize.
Each month that a new bill is issued, the average is recalculated. Therefore, monthly bills will fluctuate slightly each month to account for variances in energy consumption and rates.
Although the program allows you to pay based on an average amount each month, you are still responsible for the total balance of your account. The “Settlement Amount” is the billing amount difference between your accrued actual charges and the amount paid through the Levelized Plan. Your Levelized Billing amount and current Settlement Amount will be included on every bill.
You may withdraw from the program at any time. If you withdraw from the program, the account is removed, or service is terminated, the Settlement Amount and any other amounts due must be paid.
The Levelized Plan is available for residential members only. Prepaid and non-residential accounts are not eligible. If your account is disconnected for non-pay, MTE may remove your account from the Levelized Plan and return it to the Traditional Plan.
MTE reserves the right to terminate or discontinue the Levelized Plan at any time.
