As a local electric cooperative, our consumers are member-owner in their cooperative. Administration and governance are more important and scrutinized topics today than ever before. Your electric cooperative is proud of its unique governance model and the administration designated to operate within it. We strive to keep our members informed of relevant information and updates while taking seriously our responsibility to keep the data of our members private and secure. Though often assumed to be a public entity, MTE is a private business that services a specific set of members.

MTE believes in serving people — members and employees. Our human resources team consists of professionals who believe in supporting their coworkers who work with our members every day.

Safe, reliable, and affordable electricity and innovation

MTE began more than 80 years ago to electrify a few hundred rural homes, farms, and towns and has evolved to become one of the largest electric cooperatives in the country. Our territory serves hundreds of thousands of middle Tennesseans with an electric system spanning thousands of miles. Our engineering team's responsibility is to design and expand our system to provide affordable, reliable, and safe electricity as we continue to grow.

As a local electric cooperative, we're more than just an electricity provider. From finding jobs and internships to construction specifications and guidelines, our team is a great resource for our communities by providing help in a number of expert areas.
