All expenses paid trip to learn about local government
High school juniors are recommended by their school counselor based on leadership qualities and community activities to learn more about state legislature by attending an all-expense paid, three-day conference in Nashville.
Each of the 23 rural electric cooperatives in Tennessee may sponsor two students at this three-day event. Held in Nashville at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel, seminar activities include visits to Legislative Plaza, House, and Senate committee sessions, a tour of the Capitol building, leadership development sessions, attendance at a Nashville Predators NHL hockey game, cooperative learning sessions and quiz bowl competition.

When does it happen? March
How do I get picked? Faculty at each of the 20 high schools in Middle Tennessee Electric's service area select one male and one female student to apply. This selection is based on leadership abilities, community involvement, etc. Applicants are interviewed by MTE employees. One male and one female student are selected to participate in the seminar.
Who pays for it? All expenses are paid by Middle Tennessee Electric and Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association
