Energy Services

Smart Thermostat Rewards Program

This voluntary TVA EnergyRight program rewards participants for using less energy during times of peak demand — putting money back into your pocket. Participants receive an annual rebate, in addition to a rebate for enrolling an existing thermostat or purchasing a new one. Residential and small business members can join.

Home Energy Checkup 

Members can schedule an appointment for one of MTE’s EnergyPros to evaluate their homes and offer customized suggestions for improved energy efficiency. This is a free service for MTE members.

MTE Heat Pump Loan Program

MTE can help you finance a new HVAC unit at a competitive interest rate. The loan can have up to a 10-year term with no penalty for early payoff. Payments are conveniently added to a member’s electric bill.

Home Uplift

A partnership between MTE and TVA, the Home Uplift program offers significant home energy upgrades at no cost to eligible homeowners. Typical improvements include HVAC system repairs or replacement, ductwork, insulation, air sealing and other energy-efficient upgrades that reduce electricity use and lower utility bills.

Quality Contractor Network

We’ve partnered with TVA to provide a list of contractors who meet certain energy standards, known as the Quality Contractor Network (QCN). Members must use a contractor from the QCN list for funded energy efficiency work like the Heat Pump Loan Program.

Home Energy Rebates

TVA offers rebates for residential members who make energy upgrades to their homes. You can even receive a $50 rebate for getting an HVAC tune-up.

Small Business Starter Kits

MTE and TVA are offering local small and medium businesses complimentary Smart Energy Starter Kits while supplies last. Each kit includes tools to help your business lower energy costs like a smart thermostat, a Wi-Fi smart plug, a smart power strip and more.

Electric vehicles

EV Ready

EV Ready gives residential members a $50 bill credit for the installation of wiring to support Level 2 (240 volts) charging of an electric vehicle at an existing home.

NiteFlex Plan

NiteFlex offers a lower energy rate during off-peak hours. Members who select this optional rate will save 3 cents per kWh by shifting as much energy use as possible to between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. They will pay an additional 1 cent per kWh over the base rate during the on-peak hours of 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. This is great for members who need to charge EVs overnight.

We have compiled resources for all-things EV at DriveEV.com. MTE members can compare car models, find charging stations near them, learn about electric vehicles and more in one convenient location.

Renewable programs

Cooperative Solar

Members can rent solar panels and use the energy they generate as a credit on their electric bills. This program offers month-to-month flexibility and gives members firsthand experience with solar power generation without upfront costs or the long-term commitment of building a solar PV system.

Green Plan

Members can pay an additional 1 cent per kilowatt-hour to offset 100% of their electric bills using only solar power. This program offers month-to-month flexibility. When members select a plan through myEnergyPlan, this is the ‘Green’ plan option.

ProSolar

Members can consult a knowledgeable, NABCEP-certified MTE employee to see if solar is a good fit for their homes. During this free consultation, MTE will evaluate the roof/property and discuss costs, long-term maintenance, buyback programs and more.
